Toddler left home alone so mum could drink

A UK mother has been jailed after leaving her 15-month-old daughter home alone in squalid conditions for a week so she could go out drinking with friends.

The 20-year-old woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, left the toddler in a cot and would go back home to feed her cereal once a day between last Christmas and New Year, the Daily Mail reports.
Police were alerted to the situation after neighbours heard the toddler screaming at the home in Brecon, Wales.
When police entered the home, the toddler had been left alone for 24 hours, a court was told.
"The house was in a state of disarray with rubbish, dirty clothes, empty wine bottles, beer cans and dirty nappies strewn over the floors," prosecutor Michael Hammett said.
The single mother would "pop back" every day to feed the little girl cereal and a microwave meal before going back out to drink with friends.
She was jailed yesterday for 15 months after pleading guilty earlier this year to neglect.
"You may have gone back to the house on occasions but the fact is you neglected her for a very long time," Judge John Curran said.
"Your daughter was left in the dark and cold, she was hungry and thirsty and had not been changed for days."
The woman wants to slowly rebuild her relationship with her daughter once she is released from jail.

A classic case of child abuse. If it were a male who did this there would be a public outcry.

Pure and simple gutter trash not fit to be parent,.
